Some people think that if they ignore the problem, maybe it will go away! With critters, this is almost never the case.

Typically the longer a critter problem perpetuates, the bigger it grows—because repopulating is what pests do best! The more critters there are, the more property damage your house suffers as they destroy insulation, wires, pipes, and more, which presents a whole new set of hazards. For example, mice inadvertently burn down thousands of homes each year because they chew through electrical wires and start a fire.

However, homeowners often incur more risks in the process of trying to fix the problem themselves; many of them accidentally fall off roofs, trap frightened critters in their homes, or get bitten. For these reasons, if you discover a pest problem in your home, you should quickly look for critter removal!

What is Critter Removal & Control?

Critter removal is a broad term for the service that experts provide in helping you resolve your critter problem and making sure it doesn't happen again. They have the know-how to prevent wildlife from accessing your home in the future by repairing and blocking the entry points you currently have. Critter control specialists also know how to trap and evict pests according to state regulations and even have experience in controlling odor and restoring some of the damage that pests left behind.

How Does Critter Removal & Control Work?

Though critter removal can vary by area and animal type, specialists have pretty standard processes for handling infestations.

First, a specialist conducts a thorough inspection of the outside and inside of your home, spotting the entry points and types of infestations they'll be dealing with.

Next, a specialist will return with humane traps to safely remove unwanted pests from your home.

Afterward, the team of experts will remove the trapped pests, clean up the critters' mess, and perform exclusion services to seal off the entry points identified in the initial inspection.

Finally, you'll get a follow-up inspection to make sure the problem has been entirely resolved.

The most common critter issues in the Phoenix area

Phoenix homeowners, like anyone, can experience a wide variety of critters trying to intrude on their homes. Squirrels, raccoons, rodents, bats, and snakes are usually the most common. Arizona rodents typically belong to one of the following species: roof rats, wood rats or pack rats, kangaroo rats, pocket mice, deer mice, or field mice. Arizona birds are also relatively common with sparrows and woodpeckers entering attics and pigeons making horrible messes on and around homes. Unfortunately, even skunks can be a problem for some homeowners in areas that are irrigated or near agricultural property or riverbeds. Often, the first signs of activity from these pests will be seen in the yard. For many you may see holes dug. In most cases, many pests tend to eventually settle in the attic, but an entire house can quickly become infested if nothing is done.

Critter Removal & Control FAQs:

What Can I Do to Prevent Critter Issues in Phoenix?

As previously mentioned, attics are the favorite spot for most critters, so cutting back any trees that hang over your roof or near the roofline is a great first step in discouraging pests. Another good idea is to clean up anything in the yard that could be an easy source of food, such as tree nuts, fruit on the ground, or trash. Keeping your compost contained and away from your house also helps. Pet feces can also attract critters, so make sure to pick up after your pet as well. If you want to be even more sure of your prevention efforts, have an expert come and inspect your home for prevention work that can be done to stop animals from entering your attic before it happens. This will also save you money as you will be preventing the need for trapping and cleanup services.

Admitting there's a pest problem is a big step, but the sooner you take that step, the less damage you'll have to deal with. Critter control is an essential step in restoring your house to a healthy and happy state. Get your property inspected and evict the intruders!

What do you do with trapped animals?

Whenever laws and circumstances allow, we prefer to relocate animals to an area where they won't cause further problems and where they will have the resources they need to thrive.

I think I have birds in my chimney. Can you get them out?

Yes, we can typically get them out. Once the birds are gone, we recommend adding a chimney cap or appropriate exclusion to prevent future animal entry into the chimney.

How soon can you get here?

Depending on the type of service requested and our current schedule, we can sometimes get there on the same day to start a job. At the latest, we will be able to get there within 2-3 business days.

Do you guarantee your work?

Our exclusion work comes with a five-year workmanship warranty. We will fix any damaged or ineffective work for free if it is not caused by tampering or human actions. If exclusion needs to be adjusted due to renovations(for example roof replacement), we recommend contacting us to see what can be done to preserve the exclusion and avoid redoing the work.

Trapping services vary, but while our trapping services are typically successful, there are no guarantees of success with trapping due to the many variables involved with wild animals and their behavior and environment. There are programs for some animals however that provide an ongoing warranty covering trapping for some situations.

If animals get through our exclusion work and trapping is required again, that is covered, though we have never had occasion to provide this corrective trapping service.

I'm not going to be home. Can you still do the work?

There are many services we can provide without anyone being home. If the services do require access to the home's interior or the attic, our specialists do require someone to grant them access.

Do you accept credit cards?

Yes. All major credit cards are accepted as well as most checks, Zelle money transfers, cash, and Venmo.

Can I make an appointment for a specific time?

Yes. Appointments for specific times are subject to availability, with the understanding that we also provide emergency services as available. If we are called for an urgent service that involves a dangerous situation we can fix, we will typically prioritize that service while keeping other appointments informed of any delays.

Do you sell traps so I can do this myself?

No. It is not recommended for unlicensed and inexperienced individuals to attempt to trap wild animals. Trapping many animals requires a license and training on humane methods, humane handling after the animal is trapped, and releasing the animal into an appropriate environment where it can prosper without becoming a pest once again. If an animal is not handled properly throughout the process, it can lead to suffering and death. If an animal is released into an unsuitable environment, it can also cause suffering and death. If you find yourself in a situation where you have a trapped animal and need help with handling and relocating the animal, please call us. We can discuss what services we can provide at that point.
